Healthcare

Anne's Core Belief:
No one should die as a result of fearing the cost of Healthcare more than the illness. The current pandemic crisis has put a spotlight on the failings and danger of the status quo. Quality Healthcare should be a right that is affordable and accessible for all.

Anne's Experience:
Since joining ‘Victim support Services’ I have worked to attain free healthcare for staff and all those we serve. I have made free access to mental healthcare a priority internally and externally. We are now able to offer these vital services in every county in Washington. True healthcare must be carried out in a holistic way to ensure true healing of mind and body.

Inclusivity

Anne's Core Belief:
We must do right by everyone. An injustice against one is an injustice against all. Working to root out institutional discrimination is not enough. We must reach out and make certain everyone has a seat at the table, that they are heard, and their voice is included in our common future.

Anne's Experience:
■ Founded "No Hate Here" campaign to combat hate groups in Snohomish County
■ Worked to prosecute hate crimes and help victims heal
■ Advocated for equal pay for disabled and all workers
■ Created program for young adults with disabilities to bridge the gap between graduation and employment
■ Devised access to nutritious food and agricultural opportunities regardless of income

Safety Net

Annes Core Belief:
This pandemic crisis plainly illustrates how easily otherwise healthy, successful and hardworking people can find themselves sick, laid off, or worse. The social safety net must be strengthened to support everyone as we work to overcome the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Anne's Experience:
As Executive Director of the Lake Stevens Food Bank I expanded the reach from 1 to 4 locations, increased overall service capability from 3 meals per month per resident to 90 meals per month, and grew the yearly budget from $100k to $5M. As executive Director of Victim Support Services, I have instituted programs to expand our financial and service support to anyone in need.

Economy

Annes Core Belief:
Focus on local people and establishments to keep money in our local economy. It is important to find intersections between social justice and economic security. We must ensure the most vulnerable in our society are supported.

Anne's Experience:
During these challenging times when we all feel insecure about the future we must look to our local establishments, who donate to area nonprofits, who make up the bedrock of our economy and we need to be there for them now. The survival of our local economy requires that we connect, listen, and fight for the people and businesses that make our communities and make our lives better.

Education

Anne's Core Belief:
We must ensure our children grow to be well-educated adults. The innovation of the future and our very lives are in the hands of and dependent on the education of our children. The current pandemic further illustrates the inequities many students suffer in our system.

Anne's Experience:
I have worked on countless programs to ensure learning including:
■ Breakfast After the Bell
■ Campaigned for school bonds and levies
■ Campaigned and raised funs for libraries
■ Volunteered with middle schoolers
■ Taught literacy skills to teenagers who have slipped through the cracks.

■ The excitement and satisfaction of teaching disadvantaged children to read.

Environment

Anne's Core Belief:
We will reap what we sow. Our decendants will not avoid our inaction. How treat the air, land, water, and wildlife now will directly affect the lives of every generation after us. We can no longer afford to wait for negative outcomes to take action. We have little time. We must act to fight the climate crisis now.

Anne's Experience:
As the Executive Director of the Lake Stevens Food Bank I launched the program “feeding the 44th” in collaboration with the Snohomish Conservation District. By utilizing sustainable practices this program was able to feed more people nutritious food, with far less impact on the environment. I have proudly pledged not to take fossil fuel money in my campaign, and will work to reduce our carbon footprint and increase the use of carbon free alternative energy.
